After success of Tahiti Black Pearl industry, Cook Islands black pearl farming started 1980's in Manihiki and Penrhyn.
Then, beginning of 1990's, Cook Islands black Pearl industry became best export in Cook Islands industry helped by Japanese technician.
Now second produce country of Black Pearl in the world. The same as Tahiti, due to over supply and serious quality problem, wholesale price of black pearl dramatically drop.. Cook Islands farmer try to survive and start to became dealer of Black Pearl. In Cook Islands, many farmer sell their pearls for tourist on purpose of life.
Normally it is cost very value price. In case of drop price, Japanese technician start to move another country, Philippine, Fiji, Australia and so on. Some local farmer start to cultured by local technician.
